Have you ever had a computer crash at your home or office and been left without any backup? If not, let me just be frank: it is one of the worst things that can happen.
Seeing that I work from home, a few years ago this happened to me and I was out data, articles, contacts, everything. All gone, overnight when my computer crashed and I could not get back any of the data.
It does not matter if you are just a home computer user or a business man, backing up your computer is a must. Most people in the USA backup their data less than once a year which is alarming when they have so much to lose. I recently heard about EaseUS Todo Backup Home and I had to try it out. This came at the perfect time because I am busy putting together a new PC for my sister before she goes off to college so backing up all the data to move to the new computer is a must. Typically this task has taken me hours and hours of hunting for what is needed to move, but no longer!
One of the best selling points of Ease US Todo Backup Home is that you set it to what you want, run, and it will do its thing. It is a very hands off targeted approach to what used to take hours.
Once I finished downloading the software I started it up and this is what I saw:
From this home screen you have some options available to you:
- Disk/Partition Backup
- File Backup
- System Backup
- Smart Backup
- Mail Backup
- Clone
- Logs
- Tools
Disk/Partition Backup
If you are a “power user” like me, you might have multiple partitions on your hard drives and only want to backup only a single section. This is the tool you will use for this. Easy layout lets you select which partition you want to backup and you simply hit proceed once your options are entered.
File Backup
This is simply if you have a large file and need to back it up without messing with any other files on your computer, this is the utility you would use.
System Backup
This is for backing up your entire system. I would have to say that this is one of the most important utilities offered in Todo Backup Home as this can save you if your PC crashes. I would recommend running this every week or setting a schedule to do this for you.
Smart Backup
Smart Backup should be used when you want to backup only the files and folders that typically change the most from using them every day.
Mail Backup
I have backed up my mail by hand only twice in the past so when I downloaded EaseUS Todo Backup, I needed to test out this feature. I have many mail accounts for each website I owned and this made it extremely easy and what I got was a backup all in one place, safe on my external hard drive. I can rest easy knowing that all the contacts I worked hard to form relationships with are safe and I will never lose them again.
Clone
By far my favorite feature that Todo Backup has. Why? I was looking on how to clone hard drive to ssd since my sisters new computer has a nice SSD to boot and her old one did not. I simply wanted to clone the drive and move it over. This tool made it as easy as could be and within the hour I had everything working the way it should.
Logs
This is where you will go to see operations that have been completed or are being worked on. It will show a list of everything you have used the software for.
Tools
The tools tab has some more advanced features that you will probably not use. If you decide to use them and do not want to do just a simple backup, here is what you will see when you open it up.
Overall, I have to say that this is probably the most complete backup tool on the market. It covers every essential operation that you would need to use to backup a file or a complete system or even part of a hard drive. It lets you clone hard drives and move them around. You will even have scheduling as well as support. This all comes at an extremely cheap price per license so I would urge you to go check it out. It has made my life much easier and it will surely do the same for you!
