Before you get started, there are going to be two main things that you will need to get. One is a domain name, which is the URL that people will visit when they want to go to your web page. These are very cheap, about 10 dollars a year. Next is a hosting account. What this is, is where you will store all your content for your website to make it accessible to people from around the world. There are many price ranges on hosting so I will let you make your own choice. However, if you are starting out, I would recommend a cheap package which will run you about 1-4 dollars a month. Not bad for getting a website online that can be reached by as many people as you want!
Note: There are free domain names out there but they will look very ugly and not professional. Some examples would be yourcompanyname.blogspot.com. Anyone who sees this is not going to take your website seriously. Another thing that is out there is free hosting. As someone who has attempted to use free hosting before, do NOT use it. I seriously mean this, it is the biggest headache in the world and you will run into more problems than you know how to handle.
Okay, so now that you have your hosting and domain name set up together, which you can read in another guide, it is time to start creating your web pages. There are two ways to do this. One is through a content management system such as WordPress which I recommend, or you can use html and upload it via FTP to your server.
In order to use WordPress you will need to install it on your server. Most web hosts have a script that will install this for you with a single click.
Once you have that installed, creating a web page is super simple! All you need to do is go to pages or posts, enter in a title, and start writing! Once you hit publish, the post will be available for all to see!
