Snapchat has become very popular lately. The concept for this application is very simple. You set a timer which allows the recipient of your message to view your picture for only a few seconds. You then take a picture and send it. They only have a few seconds to view the image. After that, the image is gone and you can not view it again. Screen shotting the picture is always an option but apparently the app tells the person if you do. I have never experienced this myself.
The interface of Snapchat is very simple and straight forward. There are not too many options, just enough to allow you to have some fun. Setting the timer is extremely easy and there were really no features that left me scratching my head.
Is the app worth the time to download? I am not really sure of this to be honest. The app works flawlessly, easy to set up, and send your messages. The problem I see with it is I do not actually see a point to this app. Your Android device already comes with the ability to send picture messages. Is it really worth your time to download an app to put a limit on how long they can see your picture? Why would it be, you are sending pictures to friends right?
Snapchat also allows you to locate your friends from Facebook. If you are anything like the average Facebooker, you probably do not know half the people in your friends list anyway. This ends up being a chore and is probably not worth it. I honestly see no valid reason to be using Snapchat unless you have some sensitive pictures you only want a single person seeing once. Even then, it has recently been proven that the images do not go away forever, they can be recovered from your phones hard drive.
